Next generation ILD researchers

The objective of this session is to increase the awareness of IPF and other fibrosing interstitial lung diseases among young researchers and to encourage young doctors to get involved in research in ILDs.   This session will also be used as a platform to discuss the directions for future research (including genetics and personalized medicine) and to explore how institutions can support research in ILDs at a national and European level.

Key Topics

  • The relationship between patients and young doctors will also be discussed in light of increasing the confidence of patients in young doctors and the empathy of young doctors towards IPF patients as well.
  • The role of basic research in the development of diagnostic and therapeutic options in IPF
  • Funding opportunities for research in ILDs. 
  • The patient perspective – what the patients want to know about research and how they can get involved

Session Format

Presentations by young researchers followed by a round table discussion with patients and policy makers
